Benjamin Trenkle

Fascinated by the possibilities, Benjamin Trenkle has been a passionate Joomla! developer since Joomla! 1.0. Since then, he has taken on various roles within the Joomla! community. He is a mentor for the Google Summer of Code project, as well as a member of the Security Strike Team and the CMS Maintenance Team. After serving as Release Lead for Joomla! 4.1, he spent a year as Production Department Coordinator before taking over as head of the CMS Release Team in August 2022, where he supports the current and future Release Managers for Joomla! Since 2026 he is the Team Lead of the Maintenance Team. He has also been involved in the implementation of a wide variety of Joomla! features, such as the multilingual functionality in Joomla! 3, the workflow for Joomla! 4, the task scheduler, and the schema.org implementation.

In parallel, he leads the company Wicked Software, which specializes in the development of Joomla! extensions. Their offerings include the “Wicked Team” component, which allows for the management of datasets, employees, departments, roles, and lists directly within the Joomla! backend. In addition, he offers custom extension development, maintenance, support, and training, as well as consulting on multilingual websites, accessible and complex Joomla! projects.
